

Who are we?
Catford Coding Club is a working name of STEM Explorers, a local charity set up to promote the development and education of young people. Catford Coding Club was launched in February 2024 to provide volunteer led free and affordable coding classes for local children.
Where are your classes?
Our classes are hosted in the Junior School of St Dunstan's College, Stanstead Rd, SE6 4TY
When are your classes?
Our classes run between 10am and 12.15pm on Saturdays term time only. Check our bookings page for details.
What ages are your classes suitable for?
Depending on the class, our classes may be suitable for children aged 7 to 15. Unfortunately we can't cater for children younger than 7.
What should we bring?
No equipment is needed. All equipment is provided.
Who are your tutors?
Our teachers are local volunteers experienced in coding. All our regular volunteers have enhanced DBS checks, and will have appropriate training including safeguarding. If you are interested in volunteering please get in touch.

Chair
Michael McDermott

Michael is one of our founders and has lived in Catford with his partner and 2 boys for almost 10 years. Michael is a big fan of the local community and enjoys gaming, coding and travel with his children.

Safeguarding Lead Trustee
Yusuf Solley

Yusuf is one of our founders and is passionate about social mobility and outreach for young people. Yusuf practices as a barrister and is also chair of governors of a local secondary school. He learned to code using 'Basic' on a Commodore 64! Now he enjoys coding with his own two children.

Treasurer
Marta Tabinski

Marta grew up in Catford and is now raising her own family of 4 children here. Marta is involved in several charities and schools in the area and is keen to give back to the community. Marta learned to code alongside her children during lockdown and particulary enjoys creating games on Scratch!
